Iridology is the study of the iris as a means of diagnosing illnesses. This unique profession can compliment many holistic medical disciplines.
Iridology Schools: What to Expect
The study of the iris is an ancient practice that is still used all over the world as a means of diagnosing health issues. While many holistic health schools cover the study of iridology, there are iridology schools that focus solely on the study of the eye. Some of the areas of study you find when attending iridology schools:
Kinesiology (muscle testing)
Herbal medicine
Holistic nutrition
Functional anatomy
Iridologists analyze and study the patterns of the iris on the theory that every organ in the body corresponds to a location within the iris. These specialized health practitioners help determine whether an organ is healthy or diseased by examining the iris. While not as widespread as some holistic health practices, many people already in the medical field attend iridology schools to learn an additional tool for diagnosis. Some students also get their training in iridology through intensive herbology programs as part of an associate degree in herbal sciences.
What to Expect from Iridology Schools
You may find that many iridology schools offer online courses, or home studies, making this a fairly easy way to learn for adults already working. Iridology schools can be independent schools, but more often a part of alternative medicine colleges and naturopathic schools.
At present, iridology is not regulated or licensed by any governmental organization in United States. Many iridology schools, however, do provide certification programs. Certification programs from iridology schools are reviewed and approved by national and international associations, such as the International Iridology Practitioners Association.
