You will learn the basic physical sciences such as biology, in combination with mathematic skills for appropriate dosing of critical and sometimes even deadly medications. You will also learn how to administer them and make sure they are appropriate distributed over time to avoid potentially harmful side effects like overdosing or underdosing or drug interactions. You will also spend time in the operating room, learning and observing correct procedures and real-life situations. You will learn about anesthesiology in relation to labor and delivery, cardiac surgery, acute and chronic illnesses, neurosurgery and more. Before you can enter anesthesiology school, you must have completed a bachelor degree in a related field. What does an anesthesiologist do? Anesthesiology is a very serious medical field that focuses on pain management. Without anesthesiologists, many life-saving surgeries would not be an option because of the extreme pain involved. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, must be able to provide the appropriate treatments and procedures for patients inside and outside of the operating room and must keep track of a patients vital functions like heart rate, breathing, body temperature and blood pressure in order to maintain the patient's optimal health and safety.
